Taking an interest in life
At Drakelow House we offer activities designed to encourage our residents to keep mobile, and more importantly to take an interest in life. Staff encourage and in certain instances help residents to pursue hobbies and interests.
Meetings are held on a regular basis so that residents can have a say in what is happening in their home and suggestions may be made to improve the daily lives of people living at Drakelow House.
Residents can play the following games using equipment designed for fading sight
- Ball games feet or hands
- Board games
Activities with staff
- Chatting to individuals
- Going for walks
- Playing games
- Armchair exercise
- Reading letters, magazines and newspapers
- Helping to choose library books
- Music and sing-a-long
- Movement to music
- Maintain lifelong hobbies, crosswords and puzzles.
Outings and day trips
All outings are geared to the resident’s needs and capabilities and due to this a limited number of residents can go on outings. Relatives are always advised and are welcome to accompany the group on organised outings and day trips.
